The old Ashvita Cafe attached to its art gallery, is a place I have spent quite sometime with the guitar and a bunch of friends, and we even had a couple of Food Guide meetings there with the owner Ashwin joining us and talking to us about art and how the cafe came to be. I have not seen him since, but when I saw a newspaper ad that there was a new Ashvita in town, I was rather surprised to see that they are serious about the food business and not just art.

It took some time to find the place, but at first glance, it is not surprising that it comes from an art background. The exterior and interior were exquisite to say the least. The outdoor seating area was nice and elegant, while the interiors were chic and modern. I loved the feel of the place and wished we had such places for the same guitar with friends, a good five years back. We were only two of us that day, so we settled for a drink, a sandwich and pasta. The oreo shake was kickass - end of story. The chicken sandwich was pretty average, though the french fries that came with it were super nice. The pasta was also just about decent, it was served with some bread. The prices were pretty steep -the above cost us Rs 560, so it is an upmarket guitar space! So if we had this place five years back, I could not have afforded it, so glad it just came up! Service was alright, we were the only ones there, so can't judge it really.

Ashvita is on Bawa Road, Alwarpet. Get to CP Ramaswamy road and take the road opp Citibank, and then take the right. Its just down the road.
