Suddenly felt like having some ice cream and dessert on a boring Thursday afternoon and we were having a couple of friends joining us, so the two of us took our car and drove towards Egmore from T Nagar. Just as we were crossing a signal on GN Chetty Road, we spotted Haji Ali and decided to try them out. Our friends joined us there and we settled ourselves into this nice eclectic place, small but very elegant.
We ordered a some Lychee with Ice cream, Mango with cream (not ice cream), a chocolate falooda and a Special Falooda. The lychee was superb - and lots of it with a super nice dose of ice cream, my mango cream was beautiful, tasty and I guess healthy too! The two faloodas were pretty decent in taste and quite filling!
Service was quick, the interiors were chic and the prices were hovering around the Rs 100 mark. Apparently they also serve up quick eats like pizza and sandwich and they also have wifi! So its a place you can spend some time at. Would love to go back and try more stuff here!
Haji Ali is on G N Chetty Road, right next to the Habibulla Road signal (Opp Maverick Gym).

ReplyDeleteLove the mango cream
Sandwiches and wraps
And yes, service is good!! ideal place to go for a snack or milkshake close to midnite
As the story goes, MF Hussain was in his death bed in a London hospital. His son asked him if he needed anything, For which Hussain promptly replied he wanted a Bombay Falooda(Obviously would have had to have been from Haji Ali, Mahalakshmi Bombay in the 60's)
ReplyDeleteHis Son smiled with regret and asked him if he wanted a Vanilla milkshake instead for which Hussain said no.
As told by Shoba De.
Haji Ali, lovely place for dessert. A little high on the calorie front. Quick service at both their T.Nagar and Egmore joints. Their custard apple and cream, lichi and cream are yummmmmmmmmm. Though its predominantly a dessert spot, they have amazing sandwiches and wraps. Haji Ali is memorable for the fact that my grandfather who does not visit restaurants, joined us.
