Kozhi Idly

Seriously? What a simple idea! Three super soft, super tasty idly with an unassuming chicken gravy with two small pieces of chicken in the gravy and a super super yummy roasted garlic chutney for Rs. 60. While idly sambar may be the standard combination, there are times at home when idly is made with different types of chicken or mutton gravy at home. For Ramzan or Bakrid, as a child, breakfast was the defining moment for our family while the rest of the world was waiting for biriyani  to be despatched from our houses!

This tiny, quirky, no-frills place where you have to stand and eat brought back the idly part of those memories and flavours. Let's get it straight - the menu has only 4 lines.  Kozhi idly combo - three pieces of idly with chicken gravy and chutney for Rs. 60, a vegetarian combo for Rs. 30, extra idly at Rs. 10 and parcel charge at Rs. 5. No service charge, service tax, cooking tax, charge for cleaning and sweeping the place, etc!

Apparently they have been around for a few months and if they can maintain the quality, this could be a testimonial that you can have only two dishes on the menu and still do well!

Kozhi Idly is on the extended Lloyds road (Avvai Shanmugam Salai), I don't know if the extended road has another name, but this is diagonally opposite the AIADMK office in a small lane, but there is a board on the main road, so you can't miss it.
